They have been called veterans of a forgotten victory--not to mention a forgotten war. But while such phrases may apply to the American public, they do not have a place in the language of the VFW.
Quite frankly, the 1.6 million Americans who served in Korea during the war (1950-1953) have never been nor ever will be forgotten within our organization. During the decade of the 1990s, this magazine dedicated three special issues to veterans of that war. And VFW members contributed $600,000 to the construction of the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington.
