Wichita accounting and consulting firm Allen, Gibbs & Houlik LC and Berberich Trahan & Co. PA of Topeka have been awarded a three-year, $1 million contract to serve as auditor for the state of Kansas.

AGH will be the lead firm auditing the state's books for fiscal years 2001, 2002 and 2003. The state's fiscal year is July 1 to June 30.

AGH and Berberich replace Deloitte & Touche LLP, which was the state's auditor the past three years.

Officials say it's good news for both firms.

"It's a very prestigious client and it is a very good thing for our government practice." says Mark Dick, shareholder and manager of AGH's government practice. …
