Bettie Carter

Visitation for Bettie "B.C." Carter, a Sarasota resident who died Nov. 1, 2000, will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Chandler's Funeral Chapel. A service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Palms Memorial Park.

Jake C. Debrow

Visitation for Jake C. Debrow, a Sarasota resident who died Nov. 5, 2000, will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, with a service at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Chandler's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Blanche M. Garlington

Blanche M. Garlington, 72, Venice, died Nov. 7, 2000.

She was born Aug. 28, 1928, in North Adams, Mass., and came to Venice in 1983 from Seaford, England. She graduated from North Adams State College and was a legal secretary. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice, where she was church secretary, a lay Eucharistic minister, a member of the diocesan committee and Episcopal ministry to refugees and a thrift shop volunteer.

Survivors include her husband, Frank E.; a daughter, Melissa Newton of West Chester, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Briney of Medford, Wis.; three sons, John M. LePage of Las Vegas, Frank E. Jr. of Bristow, Va., and Glenn Stuart of Denver; a stepson, David E. of Portland, Ore.; and 12 grandchildren.
