CORRECTION: The following correction was published on Tuesday, October 24, 2000: Because of a reporter's error, a story in Sunday's Herald-Tribune misstated the description of a job once held by Florida House District 69 candidate David Cullen. Cullen was managing editor of a mailed monthly newspaper in Ocean City, Md. Cullen was incorrectly quoted, also. In an interview, he said, "Yes, I will answer what seems to be a simple question with, if I have it, a 30-minute disquisition on all of the issues involved, but I think that's what we need -- someone who can do that, who does understand all the issues." A reporter incorrectly used the word "disposition" instead of "disquisition."

Until recently, Donna Clarke and David Cullen had merely watched each other from opposite sides of the campaign trail.
The two candidates for Sarasota's District 69 state House seat had other battles to fight until Oct. 3, when a primary runoff eliminated the last of four other candidates for the seat.
The winner will replace Democratic Rep. Shirley Brown, who, because of term limits, is stepping down after eight years to run for county elections supervisor.
