Ray Jasica, chairman of the Charlotte County School Board, faces two challengers in September's primary.

Jasica serves District 2, which falls south of the Peace River and encompasses Punta Gorda and Punta Gorda Isles.

His opponents, Connie Kantor and L. Robert Combs, are teachers who believe that their experience in the classroom will be an asset to the board because they can foster communication between parents, teachers, administrators and legislators.

Kantor sees a division in the district between academic leaders and the classroom.
