If you want an example of how the Internet is changing the business landscape, talk to Bob Zale.

This year, he packed up his 20-year-old software company, PowerBASIC, and left the shadow of Silicon Valley in favor of quiet, little Englewood.

Was it hard to leave the birthplace of the tech industry for this decidedly low-tech corner of Florida?

"Most of our customers don't even know we've moved yet," Zale said. "It didn't hurt at all."

Virtually all of PowerBASIC's business activities -- sales, billing, technical support -- take place online, making its location irrelevant.
