Network Appliance is launching a suite of new products and software tomorrow that overcome Internet low-bandwidth problems to deliver streaming media and video-on-demand.
NetCache 5.0 software eliminates network and server bottlenecks by delivering live Webcast and on-demand streams from the edge of the network. It breaks the performance barrier for live streaming by five times the performance of existing solutions.
NetCache 5.0 software also integrates iCAP, the open protocol that tailors the content delivered to suit the requesting technology, such as wireless and handheld devices. It also incorporates virus scanning of all documents before delivery and allows tailored advert insertion.
New hardware
The company is also launching two new high-performance content delivery platforms: the NetCache C6100 and C1105. The C6100 is Now NetApp's top-of-the range cache, offering OC12-level streaming performance, multi-terabyte capacity, high reliability, and exceptional scalability. It also incorporates unique stream splitting technology that can deliver up to 3,000 streams from a single input.
