THE choice of Abu Dhabi as the venue for Gastech 2006 is particularly appropriate, considering the emirate's growing status as an exporter of gas and oil and progress with the 'Emiratisation' process within the LNG shipping sector.

Over the past 12 months, for example, the emirate's oil production capacity has been boosted by 25% and now stands at 3m barrels per day. Abu Dhabi's gas development plans are even more ambitious.
