Nov. 29--Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi says he is "surprised" that the Village of Mineola is close to voting on whether to create its own police force. Nonetheless, he said he was not taking sides in the issue and wanted to allow Mineola residents to decide on their own whether to create their own force. "I can't believe they'll approve it ... I'm surprised it's gotten this far," Suozzi said Monday...
