Nov. 29--A 9-year-old boy was recovering Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital after he was struck by a car Monday while walking home from Woodland Springs Elementary School.

The incident again pushes police and firefighter response times to the forefront of issues confronting new neighborhoods in far north Fort Worth, and it highlights traffic issues facing schools in the fast-growing area.

School officials sent a letter Tuesday to parents and students about pedestrian safety.

The fourth-grade boy, whose name was not released, suffered a broken femur and ankle. He is expected to be released today from Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Keller school district spokesman Jason Meyer...
