THE US Defense Energy Support Centre's SeaCard online bunker procurement system will be extended to an online spot market from the first quarter of next year, writes Neville Smith in Puerto Rico.
The centre awarded the contract to operate SeaCard last January and the system has been live since April, processing close to $100m worth of processed transactions.
Some 140 US Navy, Coast Guard and Sealift Command vessels are enrolled in the programme, which has the full support of the Department of Defense.
