MANHATTAN -- Seventh-graders at middle schools in 10 Kansas communities are helping Kansas State University researchers test a new strategy for helping youth choose healthy habits and avoid problem behaviors.
Through K-State's "Healthy Youth Places Project," the students and their schools will be working together to develop healthy environments, providing researchers with vital data on the efficacy of their efforts.
The "Healthy Youth Places Project" is one of 15 research studies funded by the National Institutes of Health to test and identify effective, innovative strategies to prevent disease through behavior change. Universities also receiving grants through the initiative include Harvard, Cornell, Stanford and Michigan.…
