This issue of the International Journal on World Peace (IJWP) is dedicated to the late Professor Alexander Shtromas, a founding advisor of the Journal who passed away in June 1999.

When the IJWP was launched in 1984, Professor Shtromas was teaching politics at the University of Salford in the U.K., and was a champion of independence for nations under Soviet Rule. The first issue of the journal contained his article "To Fight Communism: Why and How?" and a supportive comment by Professor Sidney Hook, who one year later was given the Presidential Freedom Award by President Ronald Reagan.
