TOKYO, Nov 28 Asia Pulse - Newcomers Gibraltar Life Insurance Co. and Sony Life Insurance Co. nudged out long-standing giants like Nippon Life Insurance Co. as the overall leaders in the life insurance industry for the first half of fiscal 2006, according to a survey by the Nikkei Financial Daily.
Third-ranked Nippon Life and fourth-placed Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Co. were the top big domestic firms. Meanwhile, new entrants Tokio Marine & Nichido Life Insurance Co., the No. 5 company, and Alico Japan and American Family Life Assurance Co. of Columbus (AFLAC), which shared seventh place, have been raising their profiles.
