It was a Saturday afternoon, and a man came into Forest Red's Liquor store in Dallas, Texas, and asked to cash a check. Soum Xieu, a small-framed woman, "told the man they didn't cash the type of check he had," reported the Dallas Morning News. The man then jumped over the counter and attacked Xieu, beating her.
While Xieu was being assaulted, her husband, Suot La, came into the store, prompting the robber to pull out a sawed-off shotgun and fire at La. The shot went wide, and La went to his wife's rescue. He and the robber ...
