Kansas City's mutual fund companies continue to keep a high profile locally and nationally.

With big industry players, such as DST Systems Inc., State Street Corp., American Century Investments and Babson Funds, Kansa City often sneaks into financial headlines.

In 1999, mutual fund processors DST an State Street, formerly known as Investor Fiduciary Trust Co., announced plans for expansion that will materialize in 2000. Late last year, DST bought the former Unitog Co. downtown headquarters, a move that experts described as the latest example of the company's explosive growth on the West Side.
