MIAMI BEACH -- Raloxifene therapy for 4 years was not associated with any increase in new-onset gallbladder disease or worsening of existing gallbladder disease in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, Dr. Deborah Grady reported in a poster session at the annual meeting of the North American Menopause Society.
The finding, a posthoc analysis of the Multiple Outcomes of Raloxifene Evaluation (MORE) trial, is important because some observational studies have suggested that postmenopausal estrogen use increases the risk of gallbladder disease by two to four times, said Dr. Grady of the University of California, San Francisco.
