Englewood Isles resident David Leigh fought Sarasota County for three years to lower his taxes. This week he won a victory for his wallet.
On Monday, the commissioners gave storm-water managers preliminary approval to scale back multimillion-dollar drainage projects and lower fees in the Forked Creek and Gottfried Creek basins.
In November, Leigh will pay about $150 less than in previous years for storm-water improvements in his northern Englewood neighborhood, in the Forked Creek Basin. Residents in the Gottfried Creek Basin will pay about $ 50 less.
The county commissioners will affirm the reduced fees with a final vote in September.
