PHILADELPHIA -- Erosive esophagitis healed more often in patients treated with esomeprazole than in patients treated with either lansoprazole or omeprazole, based on the results from two studies that involved more than 7,000 patients.
"Regardless of the baseline severity of erosive esophagitis, a greater proportion of patients were healed with esomeprazole 40 mg, compared with either lansoprazole 30 mg or omeprazole 20 mg," Dr. M. Brian Fennerty said in a poster presented at the annual meeting of the National Medical Association.
