VIENNA -- Data from a major clinical trial are prompting a reversal of opinion about the appropriateness of adding an angiotensin receptor blocker to the treatment of patients with congestive heart failure who are already on an ACE inhibitor and a [beta]-blocker.
The findings challenge existing practice guidelines--and illustrate the hazards of basing medical practice upon the results of post hoc subgroup analysis of trial data.
