Geographic adjustments to physician reimbursement in the Medicare program unfairly undervalue the services of rural physicians. It is ludicrous to think that rural physicians do not work as hard or provide the same good quality of care as physicians in other areas.
Most are competing with nearby towns and cities and therefore pay competitively to obtain good staff and office space. They don't get a break on medical liability insurance costs either--they face the same skyrocketing premiums that all doctors are facing.
