GERRI WILLIS, CNNfn ANCHOR, THE FLIPSIDE: Aside from steep discounts, merchants hope to make mucho moolah - let me try that again, mucho moolah - wow - and move out of the red and into the black, hence the name "Black Friday." But how are retailers enticing shoppers to spend the holiday season?
Joining us now, Carl Reggie. He`s marketing director at Thor Equities.

CARL REGGIE, MARKET DIRECTOR, THOR EQUITIES: Good morning, thank you.
WILLIS: We`re glad you`re here. Now, I understand you have lots and lots of experience in malls. And, you know, I was thinking about how this year I am trying to stay away from the mall. I`m going to be shopping online. What are the malls doing now to lure people in, get them in? Is this, you know, a holiday season where sort of everything is on the line, after such low spending in previous seasons?
REGGIE: I think what we`ve seen in the past is that people are talking about online shopping on a regular basis. As retailers, as real estate developers, we know that it`s not going away, so it`s up to us to really marry the technology with what we do.
We want to make sure we bring people in, use the internet, research what you need to, find what you`re looking for, but don`t buy everything online, because, you know what? You can`t go and get your picture taken on the computer with Santa Claus.
