At one time in their history, members of their founding orders led all Catholic colleges in the United States. Today only 222 such colleges remain, more than half with lay presidents, many of whom are women.
Three women presidents of Catholic colleges in Pennsylvania talked about their experiences as lay women leading Catholic schools at the National Association of Women in Catholic Higher Education Conference (NAWCHE) held in Washington DC in June.
