The American Civil Liberties Union and Missouri State University recently settled a lawsuit filed last spring by four female ex-tennis team members.
The women sued the university after it announced last December that their team was being cut before the 2006-2007 school year for financial reasons. To save $350,000 in a total budget receiving at least $5 million from the general fund, the school also cut four men's teams: indoor and outdoor track, cross country and tennis.
