Student athletes are graduating at a slightly higher rate than last year and female athletes are still leading the way, according to the NCAA.
The NCAA's new type of annual graduation rate report found that 77% of student athletes graduated within six years in Division I. It measured graduation rates of more than 93,000 student athletes on Division I teams who enrolled between the 1996-1997 and 1999-2000 school years.
Just 70% of male athletes graduated in that time frame, compared with 86% of female athletes. Graduation rates improved in 24 of the 35 sports measured when compared with last year's rate.
