The staff is the reason the Sioux Valley Wellness Center is continuously recognized as a top-performing fitness and rehabilitation aquatics facility, says aquatic supervisor Kathy Grady.
"We're always ahead of the times with our programming," Grady says.
With just 10 part-time water aerobics instructors, the facility is able to offer more than 59 aquatic classes, including the recently added "Bosom Buddies," a warm-water exercise program for breast cancer survivors.
Other programming ideas generated by the staff include special promotions to encourage class attendance. Some of the ideas include the Wellness Lotto, a four-week promotion that keeps members motivated to exercise in the spring by drawing tickets for prizes; a family dive-in pool party; a wine-tasting social; and a Christmas Cookbook, which includes recipes from all the water-exercise participants (more than 300 copies are printed and given to the members at no cost).
