Myolysis, ablation combo cuts need for reoperation. (Symptomatic Fibroids).
NEW ORLEANS -- Combining myoma coagulation with endometrial ablation for symptomatic fibroids and bleeding reduces the need for subsequent surgery, Dr. Herbert A. Goldfarb reported at an international congress sponsored by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
In a study of 52 patients who underwent endometrial ablation alone, 88 patients who underwent combined endometrial ablation and myolysis, and 28 patients who underwent myolysis with resection of sub-mucous myomas, the need for reoperation was significantly lower with myolysis plus ablation than with the other approaches.
