'Service to the Community'
It would seem from Dr. Abraham L. Halpern's guest editorial, "Participation in Executions,"(Nov. 15, p. 8) that if a person is sentenced to death and in the process experiences any discomfort, then the participating physician has done something wrong or should not participate.
What is wrong with a person sentenced to death experiencing suffering? The law seems to say that there should be no cruel and unusual punishment. What is wrong with a physician participating in helping society punish convicted felons? I view this as a service to the community.
