Raley Field looks like a moneymaker.(the Sacramento River Cats' new ballpark)

"X" is marking more than just the spot of the Sacramento River Cats' new ballpark, Raley Field.

To pick up the theme of Tower Bridge, whose cross-braces hover in the distance from the West Sacramento site, architects working with the Pacific Coast League ballclub worked Xs into the entryway, facade and 'other features of the 10,500seat ballyard.

The park's projected opening date of April 18, however, has had to be Xed out as well. Rain prevented builders from much of this past winter's work.

Now the River Cats -- formerly the Vancouver Canadians -- are planning to open Raley Field on May 15, moving a three-game homestand into the Oakland Coliseum and …
