Enterasys Networks, a Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) company, today announced the expansion of Gigabit Ethernet connectivity in it's leading SmartSwitch 6000 platform with the release of the new 6G306-06.
Providing six-Gigabit Ethernet ports, the 6G306-06 supports both multimode and single mode fiber via interchangeable modular interfaces. Designed to increase the availability of Gigabit Ethernet in the enterprise backbone, the 6G306-06 resides in Enterasys' award winning SmartSwitch 6000.
With Gigabit Ethernet growth expected to continue at an annual rate of over 35% year on year, the majority of those ports implemented in enterprise network backbones. Enterasys Networks is rapidly increasing Gigabit port densities of in all switching platforms to ensure that customers have a completely Gigabit capable networking infrastructure. The 6G306-06 increases the port density available in the SmartSwitch 6000, while reducing the cost per port pricing, ensuring increased uptake of Gigabit connectivity.
