NEW ORLEANS--A two-trocar technique can be safe and effective for laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy in women with uteri over 200 g, Dr. Marlan Schwartz said at an international congress sponsored by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
In 50 patients with uteri weighing between 200 g and 680 g, laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) using a 10-mm umbilical port and a 5-mm suprapubic port was performed successfully said Dr. Schwartz of Piscataway N.J.
The primary port site was used for the operative laparoscope, and the secondary site was used for ancillary equipment. ...
