Union teams up with airline to lock-in airfare savings

for union members and retirees

DETROIT, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a meeting of the UAW International Executive Board, Pro Air and the UAW today announced a strategic partnership which includes the union's participation in Pro Air's $36 million private placement and a ten year travel agreement which will provide UAW members and retirees with substantial airfare savings on Pro Air.

The agreement allows UAW active and retired members, their spouses and their children under the age of 21 to receive a 50 percent discount on Pro Air's lowest published fares. As part of the travel agreement, UAW members will also be eligible to travel on Pro Air on a standby basis for $25 per flight segment, excluding taxes, passenger facility charges and segment fees.

"We see this partnership with Pro Air as good for our members in the many communities served by Pro Air, good for Detroit City Airport, good for the general public in terms of keeping airfares lower and good for Pro Air's effort to build an efficient, safe and consumer friendly airline," said UAW President Stephen P. Yokich.

"We are pleased to welcome the UAW to our growing list of travel partners," said Kevin Stamper, chairman and CEO of Pro Air. "This strategic partnership locks-in dramatic savings for members of the UAW and provides an expanded customer base for Pro Air."

"From hospitals to housing, the UAW has a long history of supporting activities in Detroit that make this community a better place to live, and this partnership is a continuation of that tradition," added UAW Secretary-Treasurer Ruben Burks.
