(From Moneyweb (South Africa) - AAGM)
Byline: Belinda Anderson
MONEYWEB: African Oxygen chairman Royden Vice is with us now. A good set of results, Royden, but a difficult trading period for you, because of the manufacturing sector. Profits grew by 7% this six months compared to 46% the same periods last year. But you say that the manufacturing sector is recovering?
ROYDEN VICE: I think that may be a bit too optimistic, but we certainly are talking about it flattening out and starting to turn around now, and we are certainly seeing some movements upwards.
MONEYWEB: What are some of the pointers that there might be a turn?
ROYDEN VICE: We monitor the volumes, particularly if you take our traditional business of welding and cutting and those are really good indicators of the general manufacturing indexes in the country.
MONEYWEB: What does it say about where the economy is at the moment?
