SPRING HAIKU 
 
   1 
   Spring. In the fork 
   of a branch, a pair of doves 
   playing fiddlesticks. 
 
   2 
   Bride with confetti-- 
   the aged almond tree standing 
   in her strewn flowers. 
 
   3 
   Walking with my son-- 
   a swallow flits past--"Oh, that 
   was wobbly flying!" 
 
   4 
   A poppy seeded 
   in a crack in the footpath. 
   I pause to pick it. 
 
   5 
   The half-closed daisies-- 
   a squadron of shuttle-cocks
