The World Bank's International Finance Corporation affiliate is to provide up to $60 million, a potential loan of up to $40 million, and a risk management facility of up to $10 million for the massive Bujagali Hydropower Project in Uganda. Fewer than three percent of the population has access to grid supplied electricity.

Also, the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank's concessional lending institution, will provide a $115 million partial risk guarantee to commercial banks.

The 200-MW hydropower Bujagali project, located on the Victoria Nile River, is accompanied by a separate power sector ...
