Welcome to Issue #87, another issue that looks at a wide variety of equipment of different shapes, sorts, and sizes. Not only are there numerous reviews of equipment, but there is also a pair of reports on equipment that was on display at the recent Home Entertainment trade show in New York City, with our own special Ks, TK and GK, offering their perspectives on the offerings.

Why This Issue Is A Bit Late: On the evening of June 29, I was sitting in my office at church, wrapping up a discussion of some issues. In the back of my mind, I was already looking forward to the weekend, when I was going to get in few rounds of disc golf and then finish my work on this issue. The next week would be a holiday week, my son was coming home from the Air Force, and I was looking forward to taking a few days off and just having some fun. Suddenly I felt a chill, as though the air conditioner had kicked up a notch or two, and I excused myself for a second to check the thermostat, which seemed normal. I asked those in the office with me whether they felt cold; they did not notice any temperature difference. I sat back down to wrap up the meeting and started shaking. A few minutes later, I got in my car and drove home, feeling lousy. The first thing I did when I arrived home was check my temperature, which was 102. I thought I was coming down with the flu. Strange ...

As it turned out, I was actually coming down with cellulitis in my fight leg and groin. I had never heard of this condition (an infection of the inner layer of skin, probably from some sort of strep bacteria), but now I was intimately acquainted with it. I wound up spending 8.5 days in the hospital, then a week as an outpatient driving to the hospital every six hours for more IV antibiotics. Needless to say, I missed the grand Ostrander 4th of ...
