Sometimes, a person doesn't know how good a thing is until he's forced to reevaluate it; in this case, to listen to it again. Now, don't get me wrong. This newish collection of flute, harp, and clarinet concertos from Pahud, Langlamet, Meyer, Abbado, and the Berliners is very good. I enjoyed every minute of it, with EMI's sound, recorded in 1996 and 1997, truthful and clean. But then I did my comparisons.
