Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra; Four Orchestral Pieces; Hungarian Peasant Songs. Leon Botstein, London Philharmonic Orchestra. Telarc CD-80564.
I've heard of sound as smooth as silk, but the Telarc folks are taking it to the ridiculous. Using Sony/ Philip's new DSD recording system, Telarc have not just produced one of their usual super-smooth projects, they've eliminated texture altogether.
