Back in issue 82 (Set/Oct, 2000), I did a column on comparing hardware, and one of the primary conclusions I came to was that a rational adult could do level-matched, quick-switch comparisons of audio hardware like wires, interconnects, amps, and CD players without bothering to do those comparisons blind. The key to this point of view was the need for the rational adult not to have a vested psychological or monetary interest in the outcome of his of her endeavors.
