In Chinese the ideogram for the word "crisis" (wei-ji) is actually a combination of two words - danger and opportunity.

That is the perfect characterization of crisis because when you are confronted in such a situation, you generally can go in one of two directions. You can succumb to the circumstances that brought you to the crisis in the first place, or you can take advantage of the situation and use it as an opportunity to move forward.

So it is with membership in SPJ.
