Washington State music teachers are excited to be the recipients of new scholarship funds. Washington State Music Teachers Association was challenged a year ago to match up to $3,000 by a donor trust. Students and teachers held practice-a-thons, sold cookies and provided other services to meet the goal. A second gift was in the form of an estate from a former member, Lois Whitner, and her husband. The $83,200 gift and the matching trust are earmarked for students in need of financial help for music lessons.
