Music teaching is a multi-faceted profession. At any given time, you may function as a business person, mentor, career coach or guidance counselor. With this in mind, we've assembled this issue to reflect these many roles.
The feature stories address several nonmusical aspects of teaching: zoning issues; the public's perception of music teachers and what each person can do to change that perception; the potential for malpractice lawsuits against music teachers; the supply and demand issue for performers; and finally how practice can play a role in a performer's job search.
