The Northern Cape branch of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) has welcomed the jail sentences imposed on four policemen who set their dogs on illegal immigrants in a 1998 "training exercise". In a statement released on Saturday the union called on National Police Commissioner Jackie Selebi to investigate other possible violations of a similar nature.
