South Africa, which remained one of the countries hardest hit by the spread of HIV/Aids, needed a holistic approach to curb the spread of the virus, the director of Aids Awareness in the Health Department said on Wednesday. Speaking at the release of the United Nations Aids Agency, UNAids, report on the epidemic, Dr Nono Simelela said the country's response to the HIV/Aids epidemic had developed a lot. "A health sector driven response is not the answer," she said. "A developmental approach to HIV/Aids is the only way to face our problems."
