Neue Mozart-Ausgabe / Mozart - Quellendatenbank. http://www.nma.at/. Maintained by the the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe.
The Neue Mozart-Ausgabe is an institution that, since 1954, has been working on the modern critical edition of the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Now, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Daniel Brandenburg, an index to the nearly completed NMA is available on the Internet.
The Database of Mozart Sources comprises three indexes: an index of all works already published in or yet to be edited for the NMA, a guide to the location of all of Mozart's autographs, and a list of all of Mozart's known sketch leaves. The introductory and help screens are in three languages: German, English, and Italian.
The works index provides bibliographic information about each work as it appears or will appear in the NMA, including Kochel number(s), work title, type of work and instrumentation, and when the work was composed or completed, and it identifies the NMA volume in which the work is or will be published. The publication date and editor of the critical commentary (Kritischer Bericht) are also given. The works index can be searched by Kochel number, work title, or by NMA-Notenband (volume number) in the order of series/work category/part/volume.
Due to the complicated nature of titles, a lack of metadata, and the relative inaccessibility of NMA volume numbers, Kochel numbers provide the best means of searching this index when you are looking for information about a specific work. If you don't know the Kochel number of the work you are trying to locate, you may search by title, but be aware that you must use German names and spellings (including diacritics), and that many titles must be truncated if you are to locate a work within the database. For example, instead of using "Quintett in A fur Klarinette, zwei Violinen, Viola und ...
