CROWD STONE AND BEAT MAN AFTER CHILD RAPE.
A crowd of 200 people stoned and beat a man who had allegedly raped a ten-year-old girl in Kamesh township outside Uitenhage on Sunday morning, Eastern Cape police said. The girl was asleep at 1.30am when her mother's boyfriend allegedly raped her and then tried to sodomise her, Inspector Marianette Olivier said. She screamed for help but her mother, who Olivier said "had apparently been drinking", did not hear her. The man allegedly offered the girl R10 "to be quiet about what had happened", but she refused to take the money. He then put her in bed with her mother. When her mother woke up the girl told her what had happened and she phoned the police. Word spread and a crowd of 200 people cornered the man and began to beat and stone him. ...
