The Durban area suffered a spate of violent deaths at the weekend. Of six salient murders on which the police were working, five of the victims' bodies were dumped at the roadside or in the bush, said SA Police Service spokesman Captain Len John. In an eighth case, Krishna Govender, 55, was shot several times in the abdomen by five intruders who entered him home at 23 Witham Place, Westham, Phoenix. Govender was rushed to Phoenix Hospital where his condition was serious. At Durban harbour Vic Craig, 58, of 8 Dickens Road, Northdene, Durban, drove in a company vehicle to the quayside, where he tied bricks to himself and jumped in. His body was recovered by police divers, said John. Early Sunday morning the body of Michael Dlamini, aged about 22, was found at Ohlanda Main Road. He died from several gunshot wounds, said police.
