Compaq has announced a new machine that extends the entry-level end of the company's Evo Workstation line, which features graphics performance optimized for CAD and DCC applications. The Evo Workstation W4000 is based on a single Pentium 4 processor (up to 2GHZ) and is available with graphics accelerators including Nvidia's Quadro2 EX and Matrox's Millennium G450, providing entry-level 3D performance or high-level 2D performance respectively. The new machine also offers fast digital editing and DVD authoring. Besides entry-level CAD and DCC operators, entry-level geographic information systems (GIS) operators and financial users are included in the machine's target market.
