Softimage users who'd like to perform compositing tasks within the modeling and animation program may now do so with Version 2.0 of Softimage|XSI. This newly integrated capability is based on the company's previously existing compositing programs--Avid Illusion and Softimage Eddie--and allows for the use of more than 65 effects for 8- and 16-bit film through a graph-based interface. The fully scriptable compositor also allows animators to verify and tweak the results of multi-pass rendering from within Softimage.
