ENGLEWOOD -- West Dearborn Street can welcome more restaurants that serve alcohol, if the Sarasota County commissioners approve an ordinance revision today.
The county prohibits businesses from serving alcohol within 800 feet of a church or school. That affects a sizeable part of the street. County officials propose to amend the 1974 ordinance to exempt restaurants in the Englewood Business District.
Under the revised ordinance, the restrictions will be scaled back to 500 feet. Some businesses sell alcohol within the proposed limits because they were doing so before the ordinance took effect.…
